Here you can find a list of the frequently asked questions we receive about Biofibre®.

Q: What are the features that allowed Biofibre® Biocompatible Artificial Hairs to be suitable for implantation?

A: The fibers meet all the requirements set by International Standards for safety and biocompatibility of Medical Devices.

Q: How is the Implantation procedure performed?

A: The implantation is a simple, light surgery procedure. It consists of introducing one Biofibre® hair at a time, until the density required by the patient is obtained.

Q: Who can perform Biofibre® Hair Implantation?

A: The implantation is a medical practice that can be performed only by a Qualified and specifically trained Physician, by using Medical Device Approved Artificial Hair on Selected Patients.

Q: What does the implanted hair look like and how is it treated?

A: Biofibre® are aesthetically identical to natural hair. Patient should maintain the implanted hair just like they would maintain natural hair – with hair quality products. The fibres do not lose their colour and should not be died with aggressive products. They are very resistant and do not break.

Q: How long does it take until a Biofibre implant is stabilized?

A: The final fixing of implanted Biofibres is completed in 20-30 days after implantation and will remain unchanged for a long period of time.

Q: How many Biofibre hairs are implanted during each implant session?

A: Usually, 800-1500 hairs are implanted per session, or a maximum of 2000 in case of complete baldness. If the patient desires a greater density, Medicap High Density hair (MHD) can be implanted to provide a triple volume of hair outside the scalp, compared to implanted hair (3000 hairs are obtained by implanting 1000 fibres).

Q: How frequently can Biofibre Hair Implant sessions be held?

A: Normally, a Biofibre hair implant session, performed with an automatic implanter can be repeated every 8-15 days. Sessions, performed with manual implanter can be repeated every 15-28 days, the rule being that every implant can be performed only on healthy scalp.

Q: Can I have a Biofibre Hair Implant after an autologous hair transplantation?

A: Yes, it has become a regular practice today for hair Transplant  physicians to also implant Biofibre® hair, so as to increase the density of hair.

Q: Can I have a Biofibre Hair Implant session during therapy with Minoxidil and Finasteride?

A: Yes, many dermatologists today implant Biofibre® artificial hair simultaneously with the dermo-trichological therapy.

Q: I wear a wig - can I have a Biofibre Hair Implant?

A: Yes, an implantation with Biofibre hair starts from the nape, then the portion of wig corresponding to the implanted area is eliminated step-by-step, as the newly implanted area must always remain free to be rapidly healed.

Q: How long will the aesthetic result of a Biofibre Hair Implant last?

A: The duration of the aesthetic result obtained with Biofibre® implantation varies depending on the correct management of the post-implant period. The literature on the subject reports an annual loss of approximately 10 % of the implanted fibers.

Q: How many Biofibre® hairs are necessary for a generalized hair loss?

A: Approximately 2,500 Biofibre hairs are sufficient to obtain a good aesthetic result. For a greater density, Medicap High Density hair (MHD) should be used instead.
