This manual offers detailed step-by-step explanation and instructions for performing the Scarless Serdev Suture® Technique for brow lift. Video instructions, as well as pre- and aftercare are also included.

This closed approach suture method was introduced internationally by the author in 1993. The idea behind this procedure is to catch mobile, but stable tissue (in this case - the Serdev orbito-superciliar fascia, discovered by the author) and attach it to immobile tissue (bone periosteum of the upper temporal line), using only needle skin perforations hidden in the eyebrow hairs. For this technique, the author prefers to use special semi-elastic, No.0 antimicrobial surgical sutures, with long-term absorption (2-3 years), together with special curved, elastic Serdev^® needles. Lifting the brow without visible scars and preserving the naturale look, facial gestures and expressions are essential. The results are immediate, with a very high longevity and patient acceptance. 

Multiple invasive techniques have been described for brow lifting by indirect attachment of the scalp and upper face. These methods, however, do not allow the direct positioning of the brow in the way the suture method described by the author does, nor are they applicable in young patients for the purpose of beautification. Within the past decade, the demand for minimaly invasive surgery, fast recovery and immediate beautification result has revised major surgeries and radically changed surgery in face, forehead beautification and rejuvenation. Even a minimal incision approach to brow lifting and endoscopic methods has become an undesired option for beautification in younger patients, as well as Asians and Afro-Americans. Improved understanding of eyebrow anatomy, pathophysiology of the aging face, and advances in minor- and non-incision surgery, has contributed to a new approach for correction of the eyebrow position in beautification of the face.
